St Joseph’s uses a variety of technological devices and software for teaching and learning. These include iPads, MacBook laptops, and iMacs in computer labs.
Continued emphasis has been on students becoming well educated on the school’s protocols and ethical use of ICT learning and life. Year 7 students are given a “Technology Guidelines for New Students” presentations on ethical use across the school network. This is then addressed across all year groups via year meetings and the school newsletter. Another resource for students and parents is the CyberSafety Red Button. This is a link found on the school website and intranet and is a place where parents and students can be educated and reminded of how to use technology appropriately and seek assistance.
All students in Years 7 to 10 are involved in Digital Citizenship Courses. Selected Year 10 students, under the instruction of staff, will proactively seek to educate and train students on how to safely navigate and utilise online resources will facilitate this. Technology has the capacity to enhance our lives. This has increasingly become evident within our school community today and will continue to grow in years to come.
