Prayer Experiences
The school community starts each day in prayer, the prayer is usually aligned to the liturgical season, Josephite Charism or world events. Students partake in reading the prayer either over the PA or in person at assemblies or year meetings
Throughout the year, we have the joy of celebrating the Sacrament of the Eucharist with Fr Leo, our Parish Priest and members of St Paul’s Parish. Students attend Friday Parish Mass throughout the year.
As a school community, we also celebrate significant events with whole school liturgies. Some are presided over by Fr Leo, with others being implemented by staff and students.
Youth Ministry Leaders
Our student Youth Ministry Leaders led the school in faith-based initiatives and activities. They are led by our Youth Ministry Coordinator. They attend Diocesan training days and participate in faith-based activities at the school and Diocesan level.
Social Justice Opportunities
Our students are provided with numerous opportunities for social justice outreach. We have guest speakers from external organisations like St Vincent de Paul. Students have volunteered at the Lifeline Book Fair, packing snack packs for Vinnies and providing generously towards the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal and Christmas Appeal.
Catholic Faith In Action Classes
Students in our Catholic Faith in Action and Active Volunteering class put their faith into action in the school and wider community. They volunteer in numerous ways to demonstrate their values in beliefs in practice. So far, they have helped with Parish Pie Drives, cooking and serving at Parish BBQs, undertaken a working Bee at St John’s Dapto and also participated in Clean up Australia Day in the Albion Park community.
Staff start each week in communal prayer at our staff briefing. Each staff member is allocated a week to create, organise and facilitate prayer for their colleagues. The prayer is planned around the liturgical seasons or special themes. It provides staff with a time for reflection, action and prayer.
Each year, our staff gather as a community to focus on the core area of spirituality and their spiritual development. This day each year changes in focus to meet the needs of our staff. Sometimes our staff spirituality day is led by the Diocese of Wollongong Spiritual Team, leading the staff through large group and individual activities that help them to deepen their relationship with God.
Staff also have the opportunity to further their individual spiritual development through participation in Diocesan programs such as Lamplighters, Shining Lights and Alight for the World.
